SchertzQ: Schertz Turns 60

Description

The City is celebrating 60 years of incorporation this September, and we want to bring our community out for two back-to-back days of fun! The celebration will include the annual IBCA sanctioned SchertzQ barbeque cookoff featuring some of the best BBQ cookers in south Texas. Live music and a Family Zone featuring activities and games will provide event goers entertainment for all ages. Bring your appetites, we'll have plenty of local food and refreshment vendors present. Craft and business vendors will offer a unique shopping experience, and families can enjoy a carnival. The evening will conclude with a firework spectacular! 60th anniversary FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 (6:00 PM) Connecting the past with the present, come enjoy the sounds of SoundCream Airstream. This unique music experience will have you tapping your toes and dancing in the night. Large Games: Jenga, Connect Four, Checkers, Twister, Yahtzee, Tic Tac Toe, Hopscotch, Matching Game. Cupcakes, BJ's Root Beer, and Coffee will be available. Mister Softee Ice Cream Truck will be on hand with malts, shakes, sundaes and cones for purchase. Several food trucks will be on site. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 FAMILY ZONE Bring the entire family for a fun afternoon of games, activities and contests. The FREE Family Zone will be open from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Elements include a Petting Zoo, Pony Rides, Inflatable Playground, Rock Wall, Bungee Jump, Photo Booth, Car Show Display, Tie-Dye Art, and a Settler's Corner. ENTERTAINMENT Live music begins at 2:15 PM. Scheduled to appear: 2:15 PM: Senior Center Choir 3:00 PM: Marcy Grace 5:00 PM: Prophets and Outlaws CARNIVAL A selection of rides and games from Alamo Attractions, Inc. Carnival will be open from 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM. FOOD-CRAFT-BUSINESS VENDORS Opportunities for food-craft-business vendors are available. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for a front row seat (canopies are not allowed). Fireworks Show, sponsored by HEB, is scheduled at 8:15 PM.
